OME Madrid: Go social, go mobile!
By Eliza Kruczkowska on

Last week Madrid became a capital of online marketing thanks to OMExpo , the largest digital marketing event in Spain. Each visitor had the chance to choose from over 250 national and international speakers who participated in the conference and to talk to major Spanish marketing executives, publicity agencies and the suppliers of new technologies.
The world of online marketing is a fast-changing one. There are constantly new products, new conventions, and new opportunities for reaching a wider audience. But this year the focus was to answer “the one and only” question marketers have in mind: Where to invest your limited budget? Did they get the answer?
They definitely heard about the concept of discover, consume and engage and the reason it is so important. It transcends ideas like social networking or search engines and focuses more on consumers and technologies. Facebook, Google+ and Twitter were indispensible last year, and this year is no different. With more than a billion users altogether, these social networking sites are no doubt essential to connecting with consumers, and with their latest integration into SERPs, for top site ranking as well.
In a “perfect world” SEO and PPC put your message in front of searchers and potential clients, conversion optimization turns those visitors into buyers, social media builds and maintains real relationships with those customers, and web analytics crunches the numbers and finds opportunities for data-driven improvement.
They have learned they need to go mobile too. As more and more customers are researching businesses on the go, it’s becoming more and more important to optimize your mobile website. Mobile commerce is heating up and Spain is a great place to see it, knowing that:
- Spain has one of the largest mobile markets in Europe
- 39.2 percent of Spanish mobile consumers now have smartphones, according to Nielsen.
Consumers are using their mobile devices more and more for everything, from connecting via social networking sites to finding various establishments to shopping. The mobile Web will continue to grow and companies will see increase of their site traffic coming from mobile devices.
Are you and your business ready for it?
